Dss, Army Arrest Mike Ozekhome’s Kidnapper


A combined security team drawn from the Nigerian Army and Department of Security Service, DSS, have arrested Kelvin Prosper Oniarah, who allegedly kidnapped the Human Rights lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, along Auchi–Benin road late last month.

Spokesperson for DSS, Marilyn Ogar said Oniarah who was arrested Wednesday was a notorious terrorist, kidnap kingpin and armed robber and has been on the wanted list of security agencies.

Ogar said Kelvin Oniarah who is also known as Kelvin Ibruvwe was responsible for the kidnap of and killing of Dr. Chudi Nwike a former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, while in captivity;

The award winning movie producer is afraid he may not live long because of his obsession with film making.

The workaholic filmmaker who is presently shooting the well anticipated ‘October One’ movie took to his facebook page recently and said:

‘My Obsession with filmmaking makes me think I may not live long’ he wrote, immediately adding that ‘I forbid it though’.


Magazine To Pay Governor Adams Oshiomhole N25m Over Published False Story Of Impregnating A Student


A Benin High Court has awarded Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, N25million as damages in a libel suit he instituted against the publishers of News of the People, a soft sell weekly magazine.
Governor Oshiomhole had dragged the soft sell weekly magazine to court demanding N250million as damages over their report with the headline: ‘Oshiomhole’s sex power exposed: Impregnates young girl six months after death of wife.”

The magazine had reported that Governor Oshiomhole impregnated a student of the state-owned, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, bought the said girl a jeep and interfered in the academic activities of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, on behalf of the girl, adding that Governor Oshiomole used sexual performance enhancement drugs and that he had performed traditional marriage rites precedent to marriage between him and the said girl.

MC Loph's Mum Passes Away Exactly Two Years Of His Demise


It's indeed another great loss to the family of Obiajulu as the dejected aged-mother of the late entertainer, Mc Loph, Mrs. Obiajulu bowed out a few days ago.

The death of the woman was said to have been caused by neglection and malnutrition since the two children she had MC Loph and his sister died in the ghastly motor accident in Benin Ore Expressway of September 14, 2011 while heading to a traditional wedding ceremony when the tragedy struck.

The car they were in somersaulted severally before landing in a ditch.

Mama who passed away in a private hospital in Enugu after battling an undisclosed illness once alleged MC Loph's manager, Emeka Morgan, of killing her son and daughter, in an interview said “Emeka Morgan killed my only son and daughter, left me childless and handicapped.


Serial Car Robbers Arrested In Ibadan

Two robbery suspects, who specialised in snatching exotic cars in Ibadan, have been arrested by men of Special Anti-robbery Squad of the Oyo State Police Command.

A member of the gang, Iyanda Dauda, 32, was arrested at a relaxation centre in the Oje area of Ibadan after snatching a Toyota Picnic car with plate number, Lagos KTU 494 AE, on September 3.

The state command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Ilobanafo, said the owner of the vehicle, who works with the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, reported to the police that he was robbed at gun point around the Ile Titun area of Ologun-eru in the city.

She said, “A report was received on the day of the robbery incident that a car was snatched at gun point from the owner.


I’m No Longer Bothered By Criticism – Rukky Sanda


In less than three days, Rukky Sanda’s latest film, ‘Keeping My Man,’ will be premiered at The Wheatbaker Hotel in Lagos. Already the Nollywood producer cum actress is in high spirits.

Armed with a “catchy and unique storyline”, as she puts it, as well as a stellar cast led by Ramsey Noah, the Banking and Finance graduate of the Lagos State University boasts that it is her best work so far.

“It is an awesome movie. I dare say that the crew and the cast of the film did a very good job. I’m sure that many people will love it. There is a message for everybody. Ramsey is, no doubt, the best actor in Nigeria at present. I have a lot of respect for him. I have no regrets starring him in the movie,” she says, in an interview with our correspondent on Tuesday.
Regarding what inspired the movie, Sanda, who has six movies to her credit, says the idea to shoot the movie derived from real life experiences.


Ethiopia: We ‘ll Win At Home, Fight In Nigeria



Ethiopia’s  defender Alulu Girma has boasted that they hope to beat Nigeria at home and then fight in the return leg World Cup playoffs.

Ethiopia host the Super Eagles on October 12 with the return leg in Calabar on November 16.

“We must make sure that we get a good win in Addis Ababa and go  for a fight in Nigeria,” said Saint George defender Girma.

He also warned that the star-studded Super Eagles are wrong to believe it will be an easy game when both teams clash next month.

He said since they lost 2-0 to Nigeria at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, they have continued to improve as a team.

Woman Rescued From Drowning Over N500

ONITSHA—There was pandemonium, yesterday, in Awka when a middle-aged woman escaped death at Ezu River, where over 23 mystery corpses were found few months ago.

The woman, Ms. Peace Nnabuife, from Ezeoye, Nibo in Awka South Local Government of the state, had entered the river on a “spiritual journey” when she suddenly slipped and almost drowned.

Some young men, using canoe, were said to have gone to the river bank to perform some sacrifices when they saw the drowning woman and helped her.

They were leaving when her N500 fell into the river. She went for the money and got swept off by the river. Roots of trees were said to have stopped her from being taken away by the river.

US Congress To Conduct Hearing On Boko Haram


The United States Congress is billed to conduct a special hearing on the menace of Boko Haram and terrorism in Nigeria, Congressman, Mr. Chris Smith has revealed.

Smith stated this, yesterday, while leading a delegation of the US Congress Committee on African Affairs to a meeting with the President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, in Abuja.

He stressed the need for both the Christian and Muslim to work side-by-side, adding that, “Boko Haram is not about Islam, but a group of people who decided to carry arms against the state.”

Continuing, he said “this is an organ that has absolutely misread the Quran, killing people, it is something to be concern about and American government is concerned.

New Police Uniform Not For Sale, IG warns


Following allegations of plans by some senior officers to cash in on the distribution of the new Police Neon Blue uniform to junior officers for financial benefits, the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar has directed that it be issued free of charge.

Vanguard gathered that the new uniforms, which were hitherto meant for only senior police officers before Abubakar assumed office, is now to be distributed to all police personnel, including inspectors down to constables.

At the time of filing this report, Vanguard gathered that 67,500 pairs of the uniform, 75,000 new belts and 90,500 new black berets had been released by force headquarters to commands across the country for distribution to rank and file.

Catholic Priest In Prison Over Assault on Policemen

A Catholic priest was, yesterday, remanded in prison custody over alleged attack on policemen investigating issues arising from the crisis in his parish in EnuguState.

The priest, who was arraigned alongside three other parishioners, was charged with assault and unlawful attempt to kill one Inspector Cosmos Nzeribe and a team of police officers attached to police headquarters, Enugu.

The Enugu Magistrate’s Court, which remanded the priest was, however, besieged by hundreds of his supporters, who wore long faces as the priest was being taken to the prison.

He was said to be having a running battle with the Bishop of Awgu Catholic Diocese.

Presiding Magistrate, E.M. Egumgbe, remanded the suspects in prison custody, saying that they can apply for bail in a high court.

Oil Thieves: Navy Hands Ghanian, Cameroonian, 60 Others Over To Police In Bayelsa


The Central Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy on Tuesday handed over sixty-one persons including a Ghanaian and Cameroonian to the state police command over their alleged involvement in cases of crude oil theft, illegal firearms possession and operation of illegal refineries along the waterways and creeks of the state.

The Navy also announced the seizure of crude oil vessels namely MT WHARF DALE,MV HENTY, MV TOBILOBA, MT EMMANUEL, MT PAULINE, MV. S &T VICTORIA(Tug) and a Large wooden boat(Cotonou) between July and September this year by the patrol team of the Forward Operating Base, FORMOSO at Egweama Brass.

The flag officer commanding the Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral Sidi-Ali Usman, while handing over the suspects to the state police commissioner, represented by an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Chris Nwaogu, said the seven vessels impounded by the Navy  in the state's water ways would remain in their custody until the matter was concluded in court.
