Seven Feared Dead as Rain Wreaks Havoc in Ibadan

Seven people were on Sunday night feared dead as a midnight rainfall made residents of the ancient city of Ibadan count their losses.

Mostly affected in the havoc was Oluyole Local Government Area of the city.  Spherically, the havoc was registered in Arapaja, Akala new extension Lao hospital area where reports of overflown bridges deceived some commercial motorcyclists and keke Marwa operators who unwittingly fell into some of the roads which had been cut off.

Sources stated that a man, who attempted to cross the road fell into the gutter and was washed away by the rain.

Efforts to get the comment of the chairman of the council chief, Ayodeji Ayo Abass, proved abortive.

The police, however, confirmed the death of four people while the state fire service stated that it was yet to be informed of any casualty.

Most residents, who had houses around the affected areas had started to relocate for fear that the rainfall would continue till night. As at the time filing this report, the rain was still falling.
