MIKEL FINALLY ENDS SEVEN-YEAR GOAL DROUGHT | VIDEO

After seven seasons and playing 185 Premier League games for Chelsea, John Obi Mikel finally ended his long goals drought when he scored the second goal for the Blues in their 2-0 league win over city rivals, Fulham Saturday evening.

Before the 86th minute strike, the Nigerian international had only scored twice for the Europa champions and that was six years ago in back to back FA Cup games against Macclesfield Town and Nottingham Forest.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the midfielder said he was very happy finally breaking his scoring duck and acknowledged that it was a long time in coming.

Mikel also admitted that they had been going through some trying times and was very delighted that they finally ended their two-match losing run.

The Nigerian confessed that their manager (Jose Mourinho) had stressed on the need for the players to adapt to his new style of play, which includes them pressing the ball higher up the pitch.

Oscar finally ended Fulham’s resistance in the second half after scoring.

The visitors created the best chance of a dour first half but Darren Bent shot straight at Blues keeper Petr Cech.

But Oscar settled Chelsea's nerves when he tapped in after David Stockdale spilled a Samuel Eto'o shot into his path.

The victory has taken Chelsea to the top of the table level on points with Liverpool, who lost earlier, courtesy of a superior goals advantage.
