Oyo
State police command on Friday arrested two suspected ritualists with a fresh
human head.
The arrest was made at Olufana village along Igbo-oloyin in Akinyele
Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest of the suspects was made possible after members of the
community who saw them informed the police.
According to them, the suspects were seen cutting the head of the woman
along Igbo-Oloyin village.
One of the suspects, Seyi Akinrinola(30), who claimed to be a farmer,
while speaking with Saturday Tribune said he was advised by the other suspect
to get a human head for anti-bullet charms and that the head was that of a mad
woman.
He insisted that the woman was known to residents of the village and
that he only cut off the head and put it on a tree near his house.
But Ajitoni Ogundeji(40), the other suspect, denied his involvement in
the act, saying: “I do not know anything about it.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olabisi
Okuwosi-Ilobanafor, while speaking on the incident, said members of the
community informed the police that they sighted a human head on a tree and the
police promptly moved into the area around 10.00 am.
“The police laid siege and Seyi arrived later on a motorcycle with a
polythene bag with the aim of taking the head and that was how he was
arrested,” she said.
